I really think this year Ohio hiphop will be known beyond Cleveland and cities like Massillon, Canton, and Lima will be making some noise.

Enter, Ice Cream Gang. This music really takes me back to that 90s feel but with a current/street edge. This is pretty ill.

Hit Or Diss? “Memory Lane” by D-Ash

“Memory Lane” is a song that D-Ash dedicates to the life he lived without a father figure. I love a song that tells a story and D didn’t disappoint. The track has a traditional hip hop sound. There’s no hook just lyrics so he does a good job of getting his point across. His delivery is simple enough to be catch the ear easily but the words are complex enough to paint a picture of what he’s been through in his life. I have to admit though, the song isn’t single material. This is one of those songs that is more personal to him than it is entertaining to me, but I like it. And look at that smile, he’s a cutie! First off, if you’re from Ohio and haven’t heard about Yung Monsta (StarLyfe Ent.), you’re missin somethin! Hailing from Youngstown, the homie’s music has been battering PA systems and car stereos alike all across Ohio. I’m sure that the damaged subwoofers are do in no small part to the bass knocking production of the infamous Dj Chip Banks (also from StarLyfe). After much anticipation, the two have FINALLY teamed up to create a full-length original album!!! ***Side-note: If you are a DJ, you NEED to be spinning this album!!!*** But more than just club bangers, Yung proves his versatility with a diverse collection of songs for his wide audience. From tracks for the avid hiphop head (check out the flow on the intro song), to stunt songs (I Told You So), and a few cuts for the ladies (Can I Get a Mi nute ft. RadiKall), this album is def a must have for any and everyone! StarLyfe or No Life!!! Youngstown Stand Up!
